2010 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala

This season’s exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, sponsored by Gap along with support by Condé Nast, is inspired by the American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity running from today, May 5th through August 15th focusing on how the modern American woman between the 1890′s and 1940′s has affected women today.

To kick off the exhibit, a gala was thrown at the Met this past Monday hosted by Oprah Winfrey, Executive Vice President of Global Design for Gap Patrick Robinson, and Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Anna Wintour for the main fundraiser event for the Costume Institute with this year raising almost twice as much money as last year! Here are some of the favorite looks from the evening:
