Long Live McQueen Through Sarah Burton

Following the amazingly talented Alexander McQueen‘s suicide this past March, Sarah Burton was left to oversee McQueen’s fall collection. She was formerly the head of design for womenswear working alongside McQueen for the last 16 years and was recently appointed the position of creative director for the label.

In a statement, Sarah said, “The creation of modern, beautifully crafted clothes was at the heart of Lee’s vision. I intend to stay true to his legacy.”

With the news of a successor for the label, the McQueen brand will undoubtedly be strengthen. Sarah’s immediate plan is to release a licensed men’s underwear line this summer.

A Tribute to Alexander McQueen by Tyra Banks

Paying tribute to the legendary fashion designer Alexander McQueen, 36-year-old America’s Next Top Model host Tyra Banks pays her respects by creating a shoot inspired my McQueen‘s latest designs with a guest appearance by American Vogue editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley.

About the tribute, Tyra said, “I wanted to do a photo shoot decked out in H2T McQueen. McQueen was considered royalty in the fashion community. I feel like a queen whenever I wear his clothes (especially the stunning blue dress I wore for this shoot)!… I would like to think that he would have loved these photos.”

McQ by Alexander McQueen Fall 2010 Lookbook

Inspired by 90’s grunge, the fall 2010 collection of McQ by Alexander McQueen consists of an androgynous style of different patterns, colors, and textures full of stripes, patchwork, florals, and denims. The collection shows a great autumn range combining feminine and masculine features that definitely screams McQueen‘s dark and creative personality.

From the black lips and platform boots to the baggy pants and wild dresses, this is probably my favorite fall collection that I have yet seen for the season. I think the twist on the kilt, but for women, paired with platforms is genius. Either that or I just have a platform fetish. I think it’s the platform fetish haha… Here are my favorite looks:

Alexander McQueen Accessories Fall/Winter 2010/2011 Collection

Thinking about Alexander McQueen, I still feel a little down knowing that I will never have the opportunity to work alongside his genius creativity. The last collection of accessories he designed for this fall is nothing short of amazing. Here are some of the amazing shoes and bags:
